MY HEART TO YOURS
APRIL 2011

Recently our family was going to be making a trip. We were going to visit our son & his wife where he is stationed with the Air Force and also attend an air show going on that weekend. Our daughter and her family were going as well, joining us along the way at a predetermined place. Everyone was excited about seeing family and the up- coming air show.
On Thursday night everyone was busy making preparations for our Friday am departure.  Our daughter had put our granddaughters to bed in hopes that they would eventually go to sleep and at least have some rest before beginning our Friday journey.  Our daughter and her husband were making final preparations for an early morning departure and were headed down the hall to fall into bed to get some much needed sleep for the next day’s drive.  As they were walking down the hall our daughter heard a door open and there stood our oldest granddaughter fully dressed – wide eyed – bubbling with excitement and a question. “ IS IT TIME TO GO YET?”  Her mother calmly explained to her that it was still night time and everyone needed to get some sleep.
As my daughter was telling me this funny story I began thinking about another day’s trip that those of us who belong to Christ will be taking.  It caused me to think how we as Christians are living day to day as we wait for Christ’s return.  What would our days be like if we woke up daily and asked the Lord – “IS IT TIME TO GO YET?”  Living with that expectation so close, would we witness to that person in our path – would we talk with that person we haven’t spoken with in a long time – would we extend a kindness – would we pray in earnest for a need in a friend’s life – would we try and right the wrongs we have left undone – would we ??????????
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.  But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Matthew 24:42-44
